“If I was associated with Chelsea” Jamie Carragher claims to have heard something he would truly hate if he were a Chelsea player

Jamie Carragher says rumors of a London power shift this season are something he would truly hate if he were a Chelsea player.

There is no doubt that Chelsea has been the best club in London in recent years, especially given their success in winning the Champions League for the second time.

However, one widely held view among pundits and supporters this summer is that the tide may be turning.

Tottenham and Arsenal appear to have given their approval, and many believe they will overtake Thomas Tuchel’s Blues.

It’s what makes the Premier League match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Sunday so intriguing.

Carragher has cautioned people who are overly enthusiastic about Spurs.

He believes that discussions in London about a changing of the guard should be enough to frustrate the Chelsea contingent.

“If I was associated with Chelsea — the reigning club world champions, remember — I would treat these predictions of a London power shift with a sneer, Carragher wrote for The Telegraph.

The “new” Spurs have not done anything yet, despite the hype this summer, and it speaks volumes of their struggles in recent seasons that their current aspirations are essentially to return to where they were under Mauricio Pochettino.

Of course, the Blues would prefer to finish top  in the Premier League every year. But it’s some consolation to consistently have the best time in London.

Chelsea has finished as the highest-placed London club in the last four Premier League seasons and has dominated in recent trophy hauls.

There’s no denying that their main rivals are improving, particularly Tottenham Hotspur under world-class manager Antonio Conte.

However, it appears that everyone is overlooking the type of signing Chelsea made this summer. There could be more coming through the doors at Stamford Bridge, with Wesley Fofana also strongly linked.
