Arsenal will win the Premier League this year, according to Arsene Wenger, who told beIN Sports that Manchester City are much more vulnerable defensively than in the past.
Premier League leaders Arsenal host Pep Guardiola’s team in a match that is of the utmost importance.
Arsenal currently holds a three-point lead over City and has a game in hand.
However, Mikel Arteta’s men are not enjoying the best spell of form. They have dropped points in their last three games in all competitions, including last month’s FA Cup match against City.
This has allowed the Cityzens to close the gap on the leaderboard. And it appears that Wednesday’s match will allow one team to deliver a significant psychological blow prior to the remaining weeks of the season.
No decisions will be made in the Emirates. However, it could give one side the advantage. And Wenger is clearly optimistic about his former club.
The Frenchman was asked if Arsenal will win the championship this year. And he appeared quite assured.
“I would say yes because I feel the usual threats in the Premier League are all out of the race, and the only threat is City,” he told beIN Sports.
“And even City is not as dominant as they were last year or two years before. And I feel since the start of the season, City was more vulnerable defensively than they were the years before.”
Arsenal have elevated their play for the season’s most significant contests. Thus, it is evident that when they meet, form completely disappears.
They have also been provided with additional motivation. Arsenal was justified in feeling aggrieved after conceding an equalizer to Brentford over the weekend. The goal should not have been allowed to stand because of an offside in the buildup.
The club will not file a formal complaint. And you would expect Arteta to utilize this to their advantage by fostering a us versus them mentality. When the Gunners’ backs have been against the wall, they have performed admirably.
