‘I would love to commit’ – Player publicly declares desire to extend Arsenal contract

Reiss Nelson, a young player for Arsenal, has expressed his desire to sign a contract extension with the north London club.

Nelson’s spectacular performance led the Gunners to a 5-0 victory over Nottingham Forest and a return to the top of the Premier League.

After 27 minutes, he came off the bench to replace the injured Bukayo Saka.

Early in the second half, the 22-year-old struck twice in four minutes before setting up Thomas Partey for a sensational fourth goal.

It was his first Premier League debut since losing to Brentford on the opening day of the previous season.

The kid, who progressed through the ranks of the Hale End system, was on loan at Feyenoord last season.

In 32 games during his stint in the Netherlands, the attacker assisted on 11 goals.

Nelson’s current contract is set to expire next summer, although he is interested in extending it.

He added that he had always intended to return to his former team and demonstrate his ability. He stated, according to The Athletic:

“I’ve never doubted myself at this football club. Arsenal is a team that I’ve been at since I was eight years old and I have a very, very strong bond and love for the club.”

“Of course, there have been times where I’ve been a bit down when I haven’t played or been on the bench, but my plan has never been for me to leave the club or say that I have no future here and I will do everything possible to get there.”

“I only have some months left on my contract. Getting a new deal would be amazing and I would love to commit to the club. Any opportunity I get I’m going to try and take and just do my very best and just keep helping the team really.”
