‘I think’: Journalist delivers Erling Haaland update that will exhilarate Manchester City fans
Marca writer Mario Cortegana has provided an update on Manchester City target Erling Haaland, with Real Madrid reportedly skeptical of signing the striker.
The Spanish journalist stated on Twitter that various levels at Real Madrid are unsure whether they would sign the Norwegian international, with City regarded as the favorite to sign Haaland by some in the industry.
Cortegana posted: “Pessimism, even defeatism, continues to reach me at different levels in Madrid. I don’t quite understand it, something escapes me, but I think Haaland’s going to City.”
City are looking to recruit a striker this summer, and according to sources, Haaland is the most likely option for the Manchester giants, with the 21-year-old already regarded as one of the greatest in his position in the world.
Furthermore, City are one of just a few clubs with the financial means to get Haaland, with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain also interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund superstar this summer.
However, as the transfer window approaches, City appears to be the more likely destination for Haaland, with Madrid focusing on adding Kylian Mbappe to their ranks this summer rather than the Bundesliga talisman.
There’s no disputing that Haaland is the ideal striker for City to sign this summer, and with Real Madrid appearing dubious about landing the Dortmund front, Pep Guardiola’s side have a free run at bringing the attacker to the blue half of Manchester.
Indeed, fans will be ecstatic that Madrid is gradually dropping out of the battle for Haaland, and with City gaining in confidence in landing the Scandinavian, the Premier League leaders look set to land one of the summer’s marquee signings.
