‘I know’: Guillem Balague reveals what Liverpool manager has told Arthur

As reported by BBC Radio Five Live Sport’s Guillem Balague, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told Juventus loanee Arthur Melo that he appreciates how well he “understands the system” at the club and “the work you are putting in.”

Arthur is ‘taking that on board,’ according to the European football expert, as he recently competed for Liverpool U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Arthur landed on Merseyside on transfer deadline day because the club had no intention of signing him before the start of the 2022 summer transfer season.

Throughout the summer, Klopp insisted that he did not need another midfielder, only to change his opinion as teams approached the final obstacle in finalising agreements.

That didn’t help matters for either the Reds or Arthur, who entered the club unprepared and is now playing for the U21s to come up to speed.

Balague put an end to rumours concerning Arthur and if he may have attempted to leave before entering the stadium by relaying what Klopp had told him.

“He is a player that has played for Barcelona and Juventus, try to do that. It’s not easy,” said Balague.

“He’s happy because he is playing. There were all these stories, only a couple of weeks ago, that Liverpool wanted to get rid of him. Denied by everyone.

“I know Klopp has gone to Arthur and said ‘I like how you understand the system and I like the work that you are putting in, so keep working’. And he’s taking that on board.”

This is a significant opportunity for Arthur to convert this loan contract into a permanent one and ensure that he remains a Liverpool player for the upcoming season.

The Reds desperately need more quality in the middle of the field, as evidenced by their lacklustre start to the current season.

As a result, Arthur may use this opportunity to impress supporters, his new management, and his teammates.

And, so far, he appears to be achieving this by working hard throughout the international break in order to be as prepared as possible when Premier League play returns.
