‘I expect’: Ajax manager finally breaks silence on Antony with massive £80m Man Utd bid imminent

Alfred Schreuder, manager of Ajax, has finally spoken out about reported Manchester United transfer target Antony.

Manchester United  manager Erik ten Hag is desperate to sign Antony before the transfer window closes.

And the 22-year-old has asked the Dutch club’s hierarchy to assist in his move to United (De Telegraaf).

The Brazilian star is an exceptional young talent who will not be cheap. According to De Telegraaf, United are planning a new €95 million (£80 million) bid for the winger to put Ajax on the defensive.

However, the Eredivisie giants want at least €100 million (£85 million) for Antony.

United supporters will be hoping that the fee is sufficient to bring the South American to Old Trafford this summer.

With this one, the Dutch are really digging their heels in. Alfred Schreuder told De Telegraaf that he is counting on Antony to stay at the club:

“I also expect him to stay. Why? Because I’m his coach. But of course it’s not up to me. I don’t decide who will or will not be sold. But I’m counting on him to stay. I think €80m is an incredible amount of money and I have that with €100m. But we’ve already let a lot of players go. We want to keep a strong squad. And new players have arrived. We have also told them what our plans are.”

That sounds pretty emphatic, doesn’t it?

Money, on the other hand, speaks for itself. And if Manchester United pays Ajax more than £90/100 million, we believe Ajax will be forced to sell him.

The Brazilian would make an excellent addition to Ten Hag’s squad at Old Trafford.

Antony has been likened to Brazilian legends Neymar and Ronaldinho (Goal). On top of that, the Manchester Evening News described him as a’s cintillating’ player.

Last season, he had 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for Ajax. He had 10 goals and 10 assists in 46 games the previous season. For someone so young, those are impressive numbers.

He can play on either wing, is extremely fast, and has excellent technique. Antony’s style of play is quintessentially Brazilian; he plays with flair and always tries to excite the crowd.

Antony, who joined Manchester United this summer, has the potential to be a game-changer for the club. It remains to be seen whether Ajax will cave and let him join the Red Devils. According to their manager’s comments, they will not let him leave this summer without a fight.
