“I can reveal” – Fabrizio Romano pinpoints possible Romelu Lukaku replacement at Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer specialist, has highlighted one possible target for Chelsea this summer to replace Romelu Lukaku.

As we all know, Lukaku appears to be dead intent on returning to Inter Milan this transfer season, and the deal appears to be close to completion.

Many names have been mentioned as potential Lukaku replacements, and Romano has mentioned one in particular in his post on Caught Offside this morning.

He claims that Chelsea have been monitoring RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku for some time and that he is a viable alternative.

His team, however, is determined to keep him, and his high price could be a stumbling barrier.

“So far Leipzig have not received any offers from Arsenal for Christopher Nkunku, but I can reveal that Chelsea have been following him for some time,” Romano said.

“Still, the price is over €100m because Leipzig want to try to keep him at all costs, and could even offer him a new contract this summer. Of course, Chelsea have problems up front with Romelu Lukaku, so it’s not surprising Nkunku could be seen as a replacement, but for now there’s not much to report.”

It’s absolutely one to keep an eye on because he’s a link that doesn’t seem to go away.

If Chelsea applies enough pressure, they may be able to persuade his club to reduce the sum.

However, I doubt Chelsea will spend anything near to what is being suggested for him.
