‘I am convinced’: Sadio Mane sends message to fans following Liverpool legend’s World Cup setback

Sadio Mané, a former Liverpool forward, sent a message to fans following his World Cup blow  this week. Senegal’s star will miss the tournament.

Sadio Mané finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting this year, but will miss out on the World Cup. An injury sustained in his final match for Bayern Munich keeps him out, depriving him of the opportunity to represent Senegal as their star player.

It’s a huge setback for Mané, who had a fantastic start to the season. He won the Africa Cup of Nations with his country before going on to have a fantastic season with Liverpool. In a five-month period, the forward came close to winning everything.

Of course, Mané has received tremendous support. After all, he’s a well-liked player, and no one wants to see a star miss the World Cup.

Mané has now responded to those messages via Instagram. “Good evening to all,” he wrote. “Many of you have sent me messages of support following my injury. Thank God, the operation I underwent in the middle of the week went well, and I want to take this opportunity to thank you all and show my appreciation.

“This Monday, our dear country will enter the World Cup, Qatar 2022. I am sure that the Lions will transcend themselves and will approach every match as a real final.

“I am also convinced that all Senegalese will be in front of the television to support and encourage our valiant national team. Like all the fans of the Tanière, I am convinced that my teammates will fight as one man and as they are used to do in order to honour our dear Sénégal.

“Vive le Sénégal, Allez the Lions.”

Mané joins Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema on the sidelines as a result. It’s now a tournament that may be missing 2022’s top two players.
