Huge Man City title race setback as key trio struck down with injuries
Manchester City’s squad for their upcoming Champions League game against RB Leipzig in Germany does not include Kevin De Bruyne, who is currently sidelined with an injury.
Alongside De Bruyne, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones will also miss the match due to injury. The trio were absent from Tuesday morning’s training session, and City later revealed the 22 players who will travel for the match, with manager Pep Guardiola set to provide more information to the media in the evening.
More information regarding the injuries of De Bruyne, Laporte, and Stones is anticipated as Manchester City aims to close the gap with Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title.
Before their next game against Bournemouth, they will travel to Germany for the Champions League match against RB Leipzig, and after that, they will face Bristol City in an FA Cup clash.
De Bruyne, who was replaced in the latter stages of the draw against Nottingham Forest, did not appear to be injured at the time.
Maximo Perrone, who was signed from Velez Sarsfield in January and has yet to play for Manchester City, has been included in the squad for the trip to Leipzig. Two young midfielders, Shea Charles from Northern Ireland and Alexander Robertson, have also been selected for the match, and they could provide cover for the absence of De Bruyne.
On another note, defender John Stones is reportedly close to making a comeback after being sidelined with a thigh injury. According to Guardiola, Stones’ condition has improved, and he has been making progress since his last appearance in Manchester City’s FA Cup victory over Arsenal on January 27th.
