‘Huge boost’ – Brighton suffer massive injury blow ahead of Arsenal and Newcastle United clashes
Roberto De Zerbi has commented that Brighton is facing a very difficult time due to injuries, after Solly March was forced to leave the field during their 5-1 defeat to Everton on Monday.
It was a disastrous day for Brighton as Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil both scored two goals each, and Jason Steele added an own goal, leading to Everton’s crucial three points and moving them out of the relegation zone.
Although Alexis Mac Allister scored a late consolation goal for the Seagulls, the loss of March to injury in the second half was a crucial blow.
The 28-year-old winger came on as a substitute after the break but suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury in the final quarter of the match.
Solly March, who has been a consistent player for Brighton this season with seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League, appeared to be in pain as he walked off the pitch slowly.
There are concerns that his injury may rule him out for the remainder of the season. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi did not reveal much about the extent of March’s injury after the match.
While the Italian coach did not give a specific timeline, it is doubtful that March will recover in time to play against Arsenal on Sunday or Newcastle United the following week.
“I don’t know. We are enduring a very tough time with injuries but I don’t want to speak about this. Solly didn’t play in the first XI because of a problem,” De Zerbi said.
Brighton is currently in seventh place in the Premier League and is aiming to secure a spot in European football for the first time. However, their chances are dwindling due to the growing list of injuries.
The team has five games remaining this season, but several players are currently sidelined due to various injuries, including Joel Veltman (hamstring), Jakub Moder (ACL), Adam Lallana (hamstring), Tariq Lamptey (knee), and Jeremy Sarmiento (metatarsal).
Fortunately, Pascal Gross and Evan Ferguson have recently recovered from their injuries and are available for selection.
