Huge blow for Ten Hag as United’s shining player could be ruled out of season finale – report

Manchester United  have advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the quarter-finals of the Europa League, keeping them in contention for two more titles. Additionally, they are aiming to secure their place in the top four of the Premier League to ensure participation in the next season’s Champions League.

Nevertheless, Erik ten Hag might have to do without one of his promising young players in May due to recent developments concerning the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Argentina named hosts for U-20 WC

If Alejandro Garnacho is called up by Argentina for the FIFA U-20 World Cup and they decide to participate, Manchester United would be required to release him for the tournament. This means that the club may lose the services of the young winger for a significant period of time, which could potentially impact their on-field performance.

However, it’s worth noting that the current situation may change, as the tournament has been postponed multiple times and it’s unclear if Argentina will actually host the event.

Additionally, there is a chance that Garnacho may not be called up by the Argentinean team, as the final squad selection is ultimately up to the country’s coaching staff.

Regardless of what happens, it’s important for Manchester United to have a plan in place to address the potential absence of Garnacho, whether it’s through promoting other youth players or potentially bringing in a replacement during the transfer window.

Huge blow for Ten Hag

The injured 18-year-old is anticipated to return before the end of the season, so Ten Hag must have planned the FA Cup and Europa League finals with him in mind.

“Garnacho may be part of the Argentine team for the youth world cup that is coming up.

“Added to this, it should be remembered that Garnacho is recovering from an ankle injury but, as reported by Gastón Edul, he would arrive at the appointment without problems,” the report added.

The U-20 World Cup is scheduled to take place between May 20 and June 11, 2023, while the Europa League final is scheduled for May 31 and the FA Cup final is scheduled for June 3.
