How Alexis Sanchez could be set to secure Arsenal £24m January transfer boost

Former Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could be the man to decide Alexandre Lacazette’s future if he leaves Inter Milan.

The Chilean, who joined the Serie A giants on loan from Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Manchester United in August 2019, has an uncertain future at the San Siro at the moment.

It has been reported that he may be on his way out of Inter sooner rather than later, as his opportunities have dwindled.

The former Arsenal man, now 32, has made just four appearances this season, none of which have been starts.

According to reports, Inter would be willing to release Sanchez from his contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2023.

If he leaves, there will be room in the Inter squad for a current forward option, a vacancy that the club is reportedly interested in filling with the services of current Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Frenchman’s contract at the Emirates Stadium expires at the end of the season, and there is no sign of a renewal at this time.

In fact, football.london reports that the former Lyon player will leave the club at the end of the season.

If Inter Milan pursues his signature, he could be on his way out even sooner. Of course, in order for any deal to go through, Sanchez must first leave the Serie A club’s books.

Lacazette is currently valued at £19.8 million by transfermarkt, with six months of his wages – the maximum that Arsenal would save if he left in January – sitting at £4.7 million by Sportrac, implying that the Gunners could potentially save or recoup just over £24 million if the Frenchman leaves.

Surprisingly, if he leaves the Emirates Stadium, the French striker will leave with a slightly worse record than Sanchez did during his time in north London.

The former Barcelona star scored 80 goals and provided 45 assists in 166 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions.

Meanwhile, as it stands Lacazette has 67 goals and 29 assists in 174 outings for Arsenal since he arrived in 2017.
