‘He’s very dangerous’: Spurs player wary of threat from ‘world class’ Man Utd star

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies believes his team must find a way to silence Christian Eriksen in order to beat Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Dane joined the Red Devils on a free transfer from Brentford in the summer, and there were initial concerns that he would be an unsuitable signing at his age.

However, the 30-year-old has undoubtedly been one of the season’s most important signings, and his deft distribution has already resulted in multiple goals for the Red Devils.

Eriksen missed United’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle on Sunday due to illness, but he could make his return against his former club tomorrow.

Well before game, his ex-teammate Davies admitted that Spurs will need to devise a strategy to stop the ‘world class’ Eriksen at Old Trafford.

He said via football.london: “He’s a world class player, any time he has the ball and has time he’s very dangerous. So as a team I’m sure we’ll watch him in the next few days and come up with a plan of action to stop him.”

Since joining United, Eriksen has made the number eight position his own. Fred played in the role against Newcastle but had little impact on the game.

The Brazilian star won just three duels in 90 minutes, and he also blew a great scoring chance in the 88th minute. He was staring at an open goal.

Erik ten Hag will be eager to get Eriksen back into the starting lineup.

If the Dane is ruled out, Ten Hag could still make a change in the center of the field, with Scott McTominay replacing Fred after his one-game domestic ban.

McTominay has spent most of the season as the holding midfielder, but with Casemiro behind him for defensive assurance, he could be given more freedom.
