‘He’s As Destructive As Salah’ – Pundit wowed as Liverpool make move to sign 25-yr-old
Noel Whelan has insisted that Adama Traore, a target for Liverpool, would fit in with Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker claimed the 25-year-old has established himself as a “complete player” after initially struggling in English football.
According to Catalan newspaper El Nacional on Saturday (October 9th), contact between Wolves and Liverpool regarding a deal for the Spanish winger is intensifying, with Klopp welcoming the ex-Aston Villa man with “open arms.”
Football Insider first reported in the summer (7th July) that Liverpool had contacted Wolves about a potential Traore transfer.
The winger, a product of Barcelona’s illustrious La Masia, has started five of Wolves’ seven Premier League games this season.
The lightning-fast ace has had the most successful dribbles in the Premier League this season, with 49 (according to WhoScored), ahead of Allan Saint-Maximin in second (33).
Traore has earned eight Spain caps since making his debut a year ago.
Whelan believes the ex-Middlesbrough striker can be “crucial” for Liverpool and lauds his improved end product.
“He’s a player who can be crucial to winning football matches,” he told Ewan Kingsbury of Football Insider.
“His pace, his aggression, his direct running – and now his end product, which he’s brushed up after his early days in the Premier League.
“He’s a more complete player now, he can get a cross into the box or a shot off on goal.
“If you think about it, would he fit into Liverpool’s style of play? Absolutely.
“He can be just as destructive as Salah and Mane in that side.”
So far this season, Liverpool has scored the most goals (17) in the Premier League.
With six goals and three assists, Mohamed Salah leads the Premier League scoring charts.
