‘He’s a top target’ – Fabrizio Romano discloses when Man City will present a ‘proposal’

Manchester City will make a bid for Marc Cucurella when certain players go, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist said that City will want Cucurella once they have sold at least one of Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling, both of whom have been linked with moves to Chelsea.

Romano stated on his  YouTube channel: “Once they sell at least one player between Sterling and Nathan Ake – or maybe both of them – at that point, Man City will submit a proposal for Marc Cucurella from Brighton. He’s a top target for Man City.”

So far, the Citizens have enjoyed a successful summer, introducing Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to their frontline.

And, if they finalise the signing of Cucurella, they will address another issue, this time in the left-back position.

The Spaniard enjoyed a terrific debut season for Brighton & Hove Albion after joining from Getafe last summer, doing more than enough to deserve a move to a team of City’s current stature, with the defender earning plenty of acclaim – while some commentators remain unsurprised that the champions are interested.

However, it appears that City will need to offload Ake and/or Sterling before welcoming another arrival.

According to Romano, Chelsea will make direct contact with City in order to finalise a deal to sign Sterling, implying that those at the Etihad Stadium will be back in the market very soon.

Cucurella was one of the season’s best signings last season, and if he moves again this summer, he’ll be in the running for the award again.

He would have the opportunity to advance even further at City. The Brighton full-back has already demonstrated his ability to fight with the best in his position in the Premier League, and playing under serial champion and compatriot Guardiola can only help his development.
