‘Here We Go’ – Manchester City Set to Announce Signing of ‘Next Frenkie de Jong’

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City is about to announce the transfer of Maximo Perrone. The midfielder born in 2003 is so talented that The Mirror once dubbed him “the next Frenkie de Jong.”

Newcastle was conducting “extensive checks” on Perrone, but it appears that Manchester City beat them to the deal.

They are activating his release clause in his contract with Velez Sarsfield, which was previously reported to be worth approximately £6.5 million. According to Romano, Perrone has signed a contract until June 2028, and all documents have been signed.

The player will meet his new teammates after the Sudamericano Sub20, where he is currently playing for Javier Mascherano’s Argentina U20 team. This would be City’s first transaction of the month of January, which has been surprisingly slow.

The midfielder has spent his entire professional career with Velez Sarsfield and has made 33 appearances for the club. In that time, he has contributed three goals and two assists, impressing scouts from around the world.

Perrone is a left-footed midfielder with exceptional passing skills and offensive vision. He captained Velez at the age of 19 despite having played fewer than 50 games in the premier league.

His style of play resembles that of Sergio Busquets, but he has also been compared to Fernando Redondo, a former Milan and Real Madrid star. In joining City, the teenager follows in the footsteps of Julian Alvarez, who left River Plate for over £16 million last summer.

The youngster is unlikely to make an immediate impact on the first team, but for the reported fee, he is worth taking a chance on.
