‘He’d love to’: Romano claims it’d take Arsenal just ‘five minutes’ to persuade ‘unstoppable’ star to join them
Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, and Fabrizio Romano has an update on the situation.
The Ukraine international is Arsenal’s top transfer target during the month of January. He has a reputation as a “unstoppable” player and would fit in perfectly with Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Romano revealed just last week that Arsenal has submitted an official offer to acquire Mudryk. Shakhtar rejected Arsenal’s offer of £35.4 million plus £17.7 million in add-ons (€40 million plus €20 million).
The Ukrainian giants have stated publicly that they want £85 million (€100 million) for Mudryk, but it does not appear that Arsenal are willing to meet that price.
Romano asserts that the Gunners have submitted a second bid, which guarantees a base fee of £44,2 million (€50 million) plus potential add-ons.
At the time of writing, Shakhtar had yet to respond to the offer, but fortunately for Arteta and Edu, personal terms will not be an issue. Romano revealed that this matter could be resolved between the two parties in “five minutes.”
The journalist stated in a video on his YouTube channel, “Arsenal submitted, on Monday, so today, a new official bid for Mykhaylo Mudryk, which is more than €50 million (£44.2m) guaranteed. Arsenal have made this new proposal, waiting for Shakhtar Donetsk to reply and decide.
“Let me clarify one thing, on player’s side, there is no problem on personal terms because Mudryk would reach an agreement with Arsenal in five minutes, he’d love to join Arsenal, but the timing is important.
“Arsenal have to be fast because also Chelsea are interested. The player’s priority is Arsenal. Chelsea are moving, Chelsea are trying to move for Mykhaylo Mudryk. In case Arsenal’s deal collapses, Chelsea will be there, but now, Arsenal is the priority. The player wants Arsenal as a priority. Now it’s up to Arsenal and Shakhtar.”
