“He shouldn’t do that” Former African Footballer of the Year slams Rudiger for his “unprofessional” behaviour in the last two games

Antonio Rudiger missed Chelsea’s last two games due to injury, which we assumed was legitimate.

It has unfortunately coincided with the news that he will surely leave Chelsea this summer, but we haven’t heard any hints that the injury concerns were staged or exaggerated until now.

Former African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba appeared to believe he had skipped the games on purpose, as quoted by AllNigeriaSoccer:

“[Missing games] was unprofessional, I think he’s done with Chelsea. If I am the manager I won’t play him anymore.

“His allegiance is now with Real Madrid, he is not focused for Chelsea, he should just move on.

“He shouldn’t do that, it’s unprofessional from him.”

To be honest, we’re not sure what to think of it all.

We didn’t get any significant signs from Thomas Tuchel that Rudiger was a marginal choice, and we didn’t get any serious indications that he was anything less than capable of playing.

The coach has stated that he will rely on Rudiger for the remainder of the season, and we will not challenge that unless Chelsea  have compelling reasons to do so. Let’s hope Ikpeba got the short end of the stick.
