‘He screamed in agony’ – Injury specialist predicts how long Man United player Pogba will be out

Paul Pogba of Manchester United could be out for up to six weeks after sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty.

Injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the  Premier Injuries website and has a background in medicine and data analysis, agrees.

On November 9, Manchester United announced that Pogba had withdrawn from the France squad due to a thigh injury.

Footage from Les Bleus training the day before shows the 28-year-old midfielder pulling up after hitting a half-volley shot.

Pogba, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is two games into a three-game Premier League suspension.

And Dinnery explains that the mechanism of Pogba’s thigh injury suggests that he could be out for several weeks.

“Typically, when we see this type of action it can be quite serious,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“Pogba immediately pulled up, screamed in agony and touched the anterior aspect of his thigh.

“That gives you an indication that it was the quadriceps. Most commonly when we talk about a quadricep injury, it’s the rectus femoris.

“He was seen on crutches after withdrawing from the squad and sent immediately for imaging.

“All of that suggests that this is not a minor or precautionary issue. We could be looking at several weeks on the sidelines here.

“It could be approaching a grade two tear, so we’re looking at least a month, possibly six weeks, possibly even a little bit longer than that.”
