‘He can’t handle big players’: Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang swipes at Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has slammed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, claiming he is incapable of dealing with ‘big players.’

Aubameyang, who joined Chelsea during the summer transfer window, famously clashed with Arteta while at Arsenal.

The forward played in north London for four years, scoring 92 goals in 163 games.

This included just over two years with Arteta as manager, but his final few months at the club were marred by the Spaniard’s decision to oust Aubameyang as captain due to a number of disciplinary issues.

The fallout was irreparable, and the Gunners terminated his contract in February, paving the way for a move to Barcelona.

Aubameyang also criticized Arteta’s management style in the aftermath of his departure from Arsenal.

“I remember they [Barcelona] first called my father,” Aubameyang told A Jewellers.

“We knew the coach, Xavi, then he called me and said there is an opportunity because you have those problems with Arsenal, but if you come you will help us a lot, so I said, ‘okay’.

“But to manage big characters or big players, he (Arteta) can’t deal with it.

“He (Arteta) needs some young players, they don’t say anything, they listen.”

Aubameyang only stayed with Barcelona for six months, scoring 13 goals in 24 games.

The Catalan giants were eager to offload him due to their well-publicised financial problems, and with Chelsea desperate for a striker, the 33-year-old joined the Blues during the summer.

Aubameyang has scored twice in four games for Graham Potter’s side so far.

Chelsea face Arsenal on November 6, and Aubameyang’s remarks about Arteta will only add fuel to the fire in what is sure to be a tense match.
