Harry Maguire reveals how Manchester United will respond to Liverpool defeat
After Sunday’s debacle, Harry Maguire has emphasized the importance of Manchester United’s players’sticking together.’
Liverpool defeated Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, marking the low point of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure.
After Bruno Fernandes missed an early golden opportunity to put United ahead, Liverpool didn’t take long to score the game’s first goal, and the Reds’ fierce rivals then proceeded to assert their superiority to no response.
United appeared injured on the field, and they went into damage control mode in front of tens of thousands of fans.
Despite this, Maguire believes that now is the time for United’s players to band together in the aftermath of the defeat.
“I am so disappointed, we gave them so many chances,” Maguire told Sky Sports.
“They were so clinical, we had a lot of chances ourselves but I am a defender and to concede four in the first half especially at Old Trafford is nowhere near good enough. We have to stick together, there is no point blaming each other but look at ourselves.
“To lose to Liverpool in any game of football hurts. The rivals, the way we lost the game, to be 4-0 down at half time in front of our fans, like I say it is not good enough.
“The term I’d use is not good enough. I look at those lads each day in training and we are working hard as we can but at the moment it is not good enough. I apologise to the fans, we have to look at ourselves as individuals but also stick together.”
