Guardiola calls Gvardiol about a record transfer to Man City
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has discussed a January transfer with RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiola.
World Cup exploits by the 20-year-old central defender have solidified his place as one of the most promising young players in sport.
Unfortunately, his and Croatia’s hopes were dashed when they were defeated 3-0 by Argentina in the semifinals on Tuesday night.
Numerous European clubs are vying for the services of RB Leipzig’s star player, so the future might still be interesting for him.
Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid have all been linked to him for months. Real Madrid has also entered the race for his signing.
According to a recent claim from France, Pep Guardiola is planning to “short-circuit” the competition with a massive offer.
Foot Mercato asserts that their bid will total £86,1 million.
United and Chelsea’s proposals are believed to be limited to £81.8 million.
They further allege that the German giants have booked a meeting with the players’ agents.
They argue, however, that by spending massively in Gvardiol, Man City intends to blow their competition out of the water.
The manager has already discussed the transfer with the defender and sold him on his vision.
Gvardiol remains under contract until 2027 and his employers are under no rush to sell.
However, City is prepared to try to convince them with a transfer offer of £94,7 million and including a 20% sell-on clause.
