Confirmed, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirms Granit Xhaka will remain at the club with Xhaka posting a seven-word Instagram message after shock Arsenal transfer u-turn.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed midfielder Granit Xhaka will not be bequeathing the club this summer.
The 28-year-old has been associated with a move away from the Emirates Stadium and was reportedly close to joining Roma, now managed by Jose Mourinho, just a few weeks ago.
And following Roma’s failure to meet the expected £30-40million asking price, The Athletic have announced that the Gunners are prepared to perform a U-turn on the midfielder.
Furthermore, it has also been claimed that the midfielder is also in line to be offered a new deal.
In truth, this progress has come as somewhat of a shock, but Xhaka seems to be happy to be continuing his Arsenal journey and celebrated the news with a goal in the pre-season friendly defeat by Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Following the game, he posted a seven-word message on social media in which he called the Emirates Stadium his ‘home’.
Having looked willing to let Xhaka leave for the right price, it’s being reported that the Gunners will count on the 28-year-old for the upcoming campaign.
Xhaka headed Arsenal’s equalizing goal during the Gunners’ 2-1 home loss to Chelsea in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
After the match, Arteta told TalkSPORT: “Granit is going to stay with us. He is a key member of our squad.”
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey nursed an ankle injury in the first half against Chelsea following a clash with Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
After the match, Arteta told reporters: “I just had a talk with the doctor. He’ll have a scan tomorrow. At the moment, it’s not looking good.”
Arsenal play one final friendly against north London rivals Tottenham on August 8 before their Premier League campaign gets underway against newly-promoted Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium.
