Gary Neville clarifies why he predicted Man Utd to finish above Arsenal amid new criticism

Gary Neville has provided an explanation for his January prediction that Manchester United would finish higher in the Premier League than Arsenal. Despite Arsenal’s current position at the top of the table, with a significant eight-point lead, Neville had previously backed United to overtake them, even after their 3-2 loss to Arsenal due to a last-minute goal by Eddie Nketiah.

However, this prediction was made 10 weeks ago, and since then, Arsenal has maintained their lead while United has fallen to fourth place, trailing by 22 points.

Speaking o the Gary Neville Podcast in January, Neville said: “No, [Arsenal] won’t win the league. Manchester City will win the league and I think Manchester United will finish second and I know that’ll annoy Arsenal fans.”

A supporter of Arsenal reminded Gary Neville of his earlier prediction, which was not well-received by some Arsenal fans. Neville responded to the criticism by asking the fans to calm down and reminding them that his prediction was made over two months ago and that it was just a prediction, which may or may not come true.

“I thought you would blow up ! ( enough evidence of that in the last 15 years ). You haven’t so well done.”
