Gabriel Martinelli signs new Arsenal contract with two more players set to follow

Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new contract with Arsenal, which will be announced imminently, putting to rest any concerns regarding his long-term future with the club.

The Brazilian’s previous contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming season, but the north London club had the option to extend it until 2026.

That would have kept Martinelli on the same terms, but Arsenal wanted to reward the youngster for his stellar performances with a lucrative new contract and ensure his future for a longer period of time.

Now The 21-year-old has reportedly signed his new contract after agreeing to a four-and-a-half year deal last week, as reported by The Athletic.

Martinelli’s new contract will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027, and Arsenal is expected to announce the news within the next few days.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will continue contract negotiations with two of their other young stars: Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

The French central defender has only 18 months remaining on his current contract, and the Gunners exercised their extension option in December.

Arsenal’s inability to sign Saliba to a long-term contract prompted concerns that he was not fully committed to staying at the Emirates, but talks are ongoing and the player insists he is enjoying his time with the club.

Speaking last month, the defender said: “I am so happy here.

“The club is speaking with my agent and me, the only thing I can do is (focus on my football). I am so happy here.”

Saka’s contract was also extended by a year until the summer of 2024, and he would have his pick of clubs if he decided to leave, including Manchester City.

The club’s confidence in securing a long-term contract for their dazzling right winger is growing as a result of Arsenal’s impressive play this season and unexpected title charge.

Saka responded to manager Mikel Arteta’s August statement that he was “very confident” that he would sign a new contract by saying, “I share his confidence.”

“I really feel the love from my team-mates, my coaches and the fans as well. So yeah, I really feel loved here.”
