Gabriel Martinelli makes Arsenal promise on his form following Man City defeat

Following Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night, the club’s winger Gabriel Martinelli has acknowledged that he has made a few errors in recent weeks.

The Gunners had been leading the Premier League for almost six months, but the loss at the Emirates Stadium has put City at the top of the table.

However, Mikel Arteta’s team still have one game in hand on their title rivals. Martinelli has emphasized the significance of making a comeback in the upcoming game against Aston Villa and the match against Leicester City the following weekend.

The Brazilian international commented after the final whistle that the team is aware of their strengths, and they will stick together to overcome their current difficulties. He added that there are still numerous games left to play.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, the Brazilian international said, via the Evening Standard: “We know our team, we know our qualities and we are going to stick together. There are still a lot of games to play.

“We know our strengths and we will bounce back. We are a family and we are going to fight until the end. For sure, it is going to be tough games (against Villa and Leicester), but we are ready.

“We know our team and we go for it. We lost the game (against City]) but we are Arsenal. We know how big we are and our qualities. We go to the next game to win and try to beat Villa.”

The 21-year-old also discussed his current form, noting that he has failed to score in each of his last eight appearances across all competitions. Martinelli added, “I think I can improve. I think everyone in the team can improve.

“I always try to re-watch the game and see what my mistakes were and try to improve. It’s not going to be different with this game. I am going to re-watch the game and see my mistakes and try to improve for the next game. Mistakes are part of the game, and we need to nail it and try to not make them.

“It’s easy to say now, when you are here, but when you are on the pitch, it is so much harder. Of course, in a game like this, the team that makes less mistakes are going to win the game, and they won today.

“We are a team. If one [player] makes a mistake, it’s not him, it’s everyone. We are a team.”
