Arsenal fans and Gabriel Jesus are both waiting.

According to all sources, the £45 million summer transfer has been completed, and all that needs is an official statement.

There was speculation that the Brazilian will be announced as the Gunners’ fourth acquisition of the summer – following Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, and Matt Turner – on Friday, July 1, especially since the club tweeted about a former number 9 in Lukas Podolski.

This was interpreted as a subtle clue that Arsenal is preparing a huge announcement for Gabriel Jesus, as he has already been sighted at the Emirates Stadium wearing the no.9 shirt, which was recently vacated by Alexandre Lacazette following the expiry of his contract and subsequent return to Lyon.

Furthermore, with the north London club removing their pinned tweet on Friday, many fans expected the transfer to be announced.

But they continue to wait, with no clear indication of when the transaction will be revealed.

Given that Mikel Arteta’s side will travel to Germany in the coming days for a pre-season friendly against FC Nurnberg on July 8 at the Max-Morlock Stadion, the Gabriel Jesus transfer must be confirmed ahead of time if he is to make his non-competitive debut against the Bundesliga’s second division side.

The Brazilian, like Arsenal fans, is waiting to see what happens, and it appears that he is passing the time by being active on social media.

However, it hasn’t been to discuss his impending departure, but rather to keep his fans up to date on his training regimen as he prepares for pre-season.

As shown in the two photographs below from the striker’s Instagram Stories, the 25-year-old has been working out at a park with personal trainer Andre Cunha while the Gunners appear to be preparing an announcement for their next summer signing.

The second image might be read as a cryptic message because there is a football on the pitch and Gabriel Jesus is wearing his boots, and the caption includes the three emojis ball, raised, and prayer hands. Perhaps the striker is eager to begin preseason training with his new team.

What is known is that when the striker joins Arteta’s first-team squad, despite his ability to play out wide, he will primarily operate as a centre-forward.
