Gabriel Jesus arrives, Serge Gnabry returns, Raphinha signs: Arsenal’s dream £145m attack
Arsenal appears to be in for another busy summer.
Mikel Arteta has already added three players to his roster, but it appears that there will be plenty more action coming.
Last year, the Spaniard spent more than £140 million overhauling his squad, but the team narrowly missed out on a return to the Champions League.
With Europa League play on the horizon, the club will require talent and depth to contend once more.
Director Edu has hinted that there will be more arrivals: “We will now continue to work hard and are looking forward to finishing this transfer window as strongly possible.”
A number of high-profile possibilities have been connected with a move to the Emirates, particularly in the striker position, where Arteta is looking to enhance his goal scoring.
With that considered, here are his actual and dream striking alternatives.
Serge Gnabry’s return to the Emirates has been rumoured, and it would undoubtedly be a dream option for Arteta.
The 26-year-old only has a year left on his contract at Bayern Munich, where he has continued to excel since leaving Arsenal.
Gnabry’s versatility makes him a threat, and his 14 goals and six assists in the Bundesliga last season demonstrate his ability to contribute at the top of the field.
In addition, Raphinha has been linked with a move.
The Leeds United winger is thought to be willing to leaving this summer after scoring 11 goals and aiding three others in the Premier League last season.
His flair and versatility make him an appealing option as well.
Gabriel Jesus is the last of the newcomers. The Manchester City forward has plenty of ability both on and off the ball, which fits Arteta’s style perfectly.
Dream forward lineup: Raphina, Jesus, Gnabry.
Realistic forward lineup
The realistic possibilities aren’t all that different from the ideal lineup that Arteta could have.
According to reports, Jesus appears to be a deal that will be completed in the coming weeks, securing at least one natural center-forward option.
Raphinha appears to be a genuine target as well, with Leeds allegedly willing to sell him for around £65 million and the player being “open” to a move. Gnabry, on the other hand, may be a less likely signing this summer.
That doesn’t rule out the idea of him joining after his contract expires in a year.
Realistic forward lineup: Raphinha, Jesus, Saka.
