Full Man City squad available for Liverpool after Erling Haaland injury update
Today marks the highly anticipated return of the Premier League as Manchester City face off against Liverpool. The lunchtime kick-off at Etihad Stadium sees Liverpool in pursuit of a crucial three points as they aim to secure a top-four finish.Â
Currently in sixth place, the Reds are seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, though they do have two games in hand. Meanwhile, City, who sit in second place, are looking to narrow the gap with league leaders Arsenal to just five points.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a repeat of their victory over City in the previous fixture, which saw the Reds emerge victorious with a 1-0 scoreline thanks to a goal from Mohamed Salah in an exhilarating encounter at Anfield.
Darwin Nunez and Jordan Henderson will both be welcomed back into the Liverpool squad for their upcoming match. Nunez had to withdraw from the Uruguay squad due to a cut above his ankle, which he sustained during Liverpool’s Champions League defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Henderson, along with Joe Gomez, sat out the match against Real Madrid, but the Liverpool captain had recovered in time to feature for England during the international break.
Luis Diaz has resumed training following an extended absence due to a knee injury. However, despite his return, Liverpool manager Klopp has stated that the Colombian player will not participate in Saturday’s game since he has not played since the team’s loss to Arsenal on October 9.
As for the upcoming important match on Saturday, Manchester City is facing their own challenges with regards to injuries and fitness. Phil Foden will be unavailable for the near future as he recuperates from appendicitis surgery. The 22-year-old had to withdraw from the England squad due to the ailment and will now have to wait on the sidelines to recover.
There is a possibility that Erling Haaland may not be available for the Liverpool match due to a muscle injury. The outstanding striker had to be removed from the Norway squad during the international break, and he was supposed to be evaluated during Friday’s training session, with the expectation of making the matchday squad under Guardiola.
