Frank Lampard picks his five greatest teammates in his legendary footballing career.

Frank Lampard is one of English football’s most prosperous midfielders and he’s best known for his 13-year stint with the Blues.

It’ll come as no shock that four of his picks will come from his time at the Blues, but he didn’t forget his one season in Manchester.

The 43-year-old told Planet Football that Sergio Aguero makes the cut alongside four Chelsea starlets.

He said: “I was not at Man City for long, but straight away you could see that this guy [Aguero] was world-class. The goals he scored on the training pitch every day were frightening and he took that on to the field.

“You only need to look at his record since he came to City to appreciate what a class act he is and he was great to play with.”

Aguero bequeathed Man City for Barcelona this summer after a decade of service, during which he won five Premier League titles and became the club’s all-time top goalscorer.

Lampard did get more time than that in the presence of Gianfranco Zola.

The minute Italian was well-loved at Stamford Bridge and assisted to usher in a ‘new era’ prior to Roman Abramovich’s takeover.

“He was fantastic on and off the field. A great fella and a fantastic footballer,” Lampard remarked.

Lampard then turned his attentions to Eden Hazard, who he maintains is the most talented player he ever played with.

Now with Real Madrid, Hazard landed at Chelsea as a 21-year-old and set English football alight.

“There is no limit to how far he can go,” former Derby manager Lampard remarked. “Hazard is the most naturally gifted player I played with and on his day he is unstoppable.

“He has said he wants to be up there with the best players in the world and he has the talent to do that. He just needs to add the consistency and the goals of a Messi or a Ronaldo to be considered in that class.”

Injury has thwarted his career at the Santiago Bernabeu, but you wouldn’t bet against him turning it around.

The final two picks are John Terry and Didier Drogba and Lampard just couldn’t pick who was better.

All three men played a part in Jose Mourinho’s initial dominance with Chelsea, as well as their first-ever Champions League victory in 2012.

What puts them up the other three according to Lampard is their winning mentality.

“First and foremost they are great footballers, but they are also winners and that is what sets them apart from most players.

“In the big games, when it matters the most, these men, and that is what they are, stood up to be counted, and they are comfortably the top two I have played with for that reason.”
