Four Premier League players named to Forbes’ list of the “World’s Highest Paid Soccer Players” for 2022

Forbes, an American business magazine, published a list of the “World’s Highest Paid Soccer Players” earlier this month.

Four Premier League footballers made the top ten, and we will name the players and provide a breakdown of their earnings in this post today.

All of the names on our list earn millions of pounds per year in wages and sponsorship deals, demonstrating the growth of English football over the last thirty years.

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City– $29m A Year

The Belgian international signed a £400,000-per-week contract in April of last year, making him the Premier League’s second highest-paid player in terms of salary.

Despite his $4 million in sponsorship deals, he does not earn enough money from his off-the-field activities to be ranked higher on Forbes’ list.

Erling Haaland – Manchester City – $39m A Year

The salary of the Norwegian striker is still being debated. According to Forbes, he earns around $35 million per year, which equates to around £600,000 per week.

Haaland does earn some money from sponsors, with an estimated $4 million earned away from the football field, but that figure is likely to rise now that he is a prominent player in the world’s most visible league.

Mo Salah – Liverpool – $53m A Year

According to Forbes, the Egyptian international earns $18 million in endorsements per year, which, when combined with the new £350,000 per week contract he signed earlier this year, makes him the second highest earner in English football.

Salah’s profile is extremely high, especially in the Arab world, so his sponsorship income is not surprising, but even his earnings are dwarfed by the star who tops our list.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester United – $100m A Year

The Portuguese legend is back in the news after his actions during United’s win over Tottenham.

He stormed down the tunnel before full-time after being left on the substitutes’ bench by manager Erik ten Hag.

However, Ronaldo’s lack of playing time has had no effect on his earning potential thus far. 

He actually earns more money from sponsorship deals ($60 million) than he does from his salary ($40 million), making his annual income nearly double that of Salah.
