Former Spurs striker predicts Romelu Lukaku, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mo Salah Golden Boot winner
This summer saw two of Serie A’s deadliest goalscorers both move to the Premier League as Romelu Lukaku signed for Chelsea and Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United.
The pair have got off to fast starts. Lukaku has scored three goals in four top-flight games while Ronaldo has found the net three times in two appearances.
It has, unsurprisingly, sparked a debate on which of the pair will win what looks like being an intense race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
As things stand, Ronaldo’s team-mate, Bruno Fernandes, leads the way with four goals alongside Michael Antonio and Mo Salah. Both Lukaku and the five-time Ballon D’or winner are tied with eight others on three including Jamie Vardy and Mason Greenwood.
For many, however, the 2021-22 race will be a two-horse one, and former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has had his say on who he sees winning the race, and it is bad news for Chelsea.
“Ronaldo,” Bent said bluntly when asked who will win the prize on talkSPORT.

“Not only he has got four goals in his first three games, but how many big chances [he is getting] and it looks like he will be taking penalties as well.
“He could have easily had a hat-trick against West Ham at the weekend and should have had a penalty as well.
“When you are that sharp and hungry to score goals like Ronaldo is, and his movement is so good, I can only see Ronaldo winning the Golden Boot.”
Bent scored 106 Premier League goals during his career, including a wonderful season with Sunderland that saw him find the back of net 24 times and earn him a move to Aston Villa.
Last season’s Golden Boot was won by Harry Kane with a total of 23 goals, a total that looks like it could be beaten by either Ronaldo or Lukaku this time around. However, beating Salah’s 38 game record of 32 goals will be a tough ask.
Didier Drogba was the last Chelsea player to pick up the award. The Ivorian scored 29 times in 2009-10 as Carlo Ancelotti’s side won the title.
