Tanguy Ndombele, a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, joined Napoli on loan during the summer transfer window and is expected to get his career back on track with consistent playing time at the Italian side.

Paolo Di Canio, a former Premier League star, says that the 25-year-old does not work hard without the ball and that he would not be successful at Napoli.

Di Canio stated that Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti will need to accomplish a miracle in order to persuade the 25-year-old to play for the Serie A club.

He said (via CalcioNapoli): “I’ll just say one thing, if Spalletti works a miracle with him, I’ll take off my hat and congratulate him.”

“Out of habit this guy doesn’t want to sacrifice himself without the ball.

“He’s not a playaker and at most he can play mezzala who becomes a playmaker.

” I don’t expect Luciano to make him walk on the water, but if he did at least make him swim it would be a resounding success.”

Spurs spent approximately £54 million to acquire Ndombele in 2019, but the midfielder’s acquisition has been a significant letdown for the Premier League club.

Despite his extraordinary skill, the Frenchman has struggled to establish himself as a vital player for Tottenham under numerous managers, and he has been loaned out so he may restore his confidence and sharpness by playing regularly for another team.

It is evident that he is no longer in Antonio Conte’s plans for the first team, and a disappointing loan term at Napoli will cast additional doubt on his future next summer.

If rumors are true, Napoli has an option to sign the player permanently at the end of this season, and it will be intriguing to see if the Frenchman can convince them adequately with his performances.

During Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, the Spurs loanee was on the bench.

In the next weeks, it remains to be seen whether he can break into Spalletti’s first-team plans.
