Fans spot Chelsea player Reece James ‘asking Cristiano Ronaldo for his shirt’ in Man Utd draw
During Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United, fans noticed Reece James appear to ask Cristiano Ronaldo for his shirt.
James was captured on video conversing to Ronaldo during the second half of Thursday’s Premier League match at Old Trafford (April 28).
He held his palm over his lips, but observant spectators believe Ronaldo responded: “Yeah, no problem.”
A video of the incident went popular on social media, prompting one user to wonder, “Was that Reece James asking Ronaldo for his shirt after the game in the 76th minute?” “I’m sure Reece James was asking for Ronaldo’s shirt there, don’t blame him,” one wrote.
“Reece James definitely just asked for Ronaldo’s shirt. Ronaldo said ‘yeah no problem!’ before patting James on the stomach and running off,” added another.
James has made no secret of his affection for the legendary Red Devils. When asked in a Q&A who he would like to play with, he replied: “Cristiano Ronaldo. Even as a Chelsea man, I have always looked up to him and idolised him. He has won so many trophies and so many honours.”
Following his Man-of-the-Match performance against United, the England international uploaded a photo of himself being challenged by Ronaldo with the caption: “Felt like we deserved more. Thank you for the support & stick with us! The marathon continues.”
Post-match, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane praised him highly. “What a player Reece James is,” the former Manchester United captain continued.
