Fabrizio Romano sends a late-night transfer tweet that will make some Tottenham Hotspur fans very sad

Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters would have hoped that Dele Alli could have rediscovered his best form at Everton.

Following a difficult few years in North London, the England international joined the Toffees from Spurs in January.

Alli had struggled to find his level at Tottenham under Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Jose Mourinho.

Indeed, by the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, the 26-year-old was looking like a shadow of his former self.

And that ‘former self’ was a hell of a footballer, which is why a tweet from Fabrizio Romano last night may have saddened some Lilywhites fans.

According to the Italian journalist, Alli has arrived in Turkey to join Besiktas.

Last week, it seemed almost unbelievable that the former Tottenham Hotspur attacker would make this move after also failing to impress at Goodison Park.

But it appears to be happening, and given how influential and brilliant he was under Pochettino, many North Londoners fans will be saddened by how much their former player is deteriorating.

After all, he is only 26 years old, and joining someone who finished sixth in the Turkish top flight last season shows just how far he has fallen.

This is a player who won PFA Young Player of the Year for two years in a row while under Pochettino’s tutelage, and who will be saddened by what he has become.

Fortunately, Alli has plenty of time to regain the form that catapulted him to the ranks of Europe’s best young players, but the likelihood of that happening appears to be dwindling all the time.
