Fabrizio Romano reveals what he’s heard as Arsenal linked with another attacker alongside Mudryk

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are not in contact with Dusan Vlahovic’s representatives over a possible January transfer.

As a result of Gabriel Jesus’ injury, the Gunners appear to be on the lookout for an offensive reinforcement in the new year.

Recent reports have linked Mikel Arteta’s side with a transfer for Vlahovic, with speculation that the club is in contact with the player’s representation once again. This does not appear to be the case, as Romano has provided an update.

In his daily post for CaughtOffside, Romano relayed what he has been told about Vlahovic, namely that there has been no communication at this time, and also provided an update on another target, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk.

“Dusan Vlahovic speculation goes on. I’m told there are no contacts with Arsenal as things stand, then let’s see in January but it’s quiet now. Vlahovic is focused on recovering from his injury, this is a key point; he’s not 100% fit yet. I think Vlahovic is always a good idea for top clubs but Juventus should not sell him after just 11 months.

“At the moment it’s Arsenal pushing for Mykhaylo Mudryk but there’s still no advanced negotiation on the fee.”

Jesus might be sidelined for almost three months, a period that will be important for the Gunners, who currently lead the Premier League by five points.

Arteta is aware of how exhausting the second half of the season will be, therefore signing a marquee forward in January may be crucial.

A move for Mudryk as opposed to Vlahovic is more plausible at this time, so this is something to keep an eye on in 2023.
