Fabrizio Romano issues fresh update on Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool FC situation
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool must considerably enhance their contract offer to Mohamed Salah or risk losing the striker on a free transfer next year.
The Egypt international’s future at Anfield has been a topic of discussion in recent months, as his current contract with the Merseyside club is set to expire at the conclusion of next season.
Liverpool FC are said to be desperate to keep Salah and lock him down to a new contract, but they have yet to persuade the former Chelsea FC star to sign a new agreement.
The 29-year-old is largely regarded as one of Europe’s finest attacking talents, and his 23 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League last season helped Liverpool FC push Manchester City all the way to the title.
Salah stated in the run-up to Liverpool FC’s Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid last month that he intends to continue at Anfield for next season regardless of his contractual position.
Now, Italian writer Romano has provided a new update on Salah’s future, saying that talks between Liverpool FC and the player’s team remain “complicated.”
Romano stated on his own Twitter account over the weekend:
“Mo Salah situation has not changed, as of now. He doesn’t want to leave Liverpool this summer – but new contract talks are still complicated, up to the club for the next months.
“Liverpool will have to improve their proposal or Salah could leave on a free next year.”

Salah has 156 goals in 254 appearances for Liverpool FC since joining from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.
Since joining the Merseyside club, he has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup – the four major trophies on offer in England.
