Fabrizio Romano discloses who’s next in line for new Arsenal deal after Saka, Martinelli & Saliba
According to Fabrizio Romano writing in CaughtOffside’s Daily Briefing, Arsenal is focusing on securing a new contract for Granit Xhaka now that the futures of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba have been resolved.
Romano noted that while no progress has been made yet in negotiations with Xhaka, he is the club’s next priority for a new deal and talks will take place in the coming months.
Xhaka has been one of Arsenal’s standout players this season, delivering strong performances in midfield and contributing to the team’s current position at the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal supporters are likely eager for the club to resolve Granit Xhaka’s future quickly, but it is also logical that the club prioritizes finalizing new contracts for Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, as Gabriel Martinelli’s deal has already been recently completed.
“Despite reports, talks are not advanced now. Xhaka is next in the list after Martinelli, Saka and Saliba, but the Saka deal has to be finalized and also Saliba is still in negotiations, so it will take some time before getting Xhaka extension done. It will be discussed in the next months,” Romano explained.
With a game in hand and a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League, it is reasonable for Mikel Arteta to prioritize retaining his current squad.
Despite Granit Xhaka’s past issues at the Emirates Stadium, he has emerged as a valuable leader within the team and could play an important role in their future success.
