Real Madrid is only a few points behind Barcelona in the La Liga standings, so it is unlikely that many will bet on Liverpool to win the Champions League after two legs against Liverpool.
However, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that this may not necessarily be the case, stating that fans may “see a different Liverpool” in the competition this season.
“What a game we could see tonight between Liverpool and Real Madrid,” the Italian told CaughtOffside.
“There are so many stars from both sides that it’s difficult to pick one who stands out, but I would perhaps suggest keeping an eye on Vinicius Junior as he loves a top performance on these big European nights.
“I also feel that, despite their difficult season in the Premier League, we could see a different Liverpool in the Champions League.”
In spite of a difficult 2022–23 league season, The Reds European form (with the exception of a 4–1 loss in Naples) has remained relatively unchanged.
The likelihood that Darwin Nunez will play in the upcoming match bodes well for our chances of claiming a decisive victory against the current Champions League champions.
With due respect to Everton and Newcastle, it remains to be seen how Liverpool will respond to sustained pressure from the Spaniards, given the higher quality of their squad compared to their previous two opponents.
If Klopp’s front three can maintain their recent form, Liverpool will have plenty of firepower to respond and hopefully take a positive result to the capital of Spain.
