Fabrizio Romano delivers a full breakdown on Cristiano Ronaldo Man United situation

On Saturday afternoon, multiple high-level sources reported that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has urged  Manchester United to enable him to leave the club this summer if the perfect chance arrives.

Duncan Castles of The Times broke the story first, explaining that Ronaldo wants to make the most of the ‘three or four years’ he believes he still has at the highest level.

Ronaldo, now 37, does not want to squander a year playing in the Europa League and instead wants to do everything he can to earn the highest individual and team honours while he still can.

It’s a worrying situation for United fans, given that Ronaldo only returned to the club a year ago and appeared to be a key part of Erik ten Hag’s new era at Old Trafford.

But, alas, it appears that the Red Devils’ best chance of keeping Ronaldo until the end of his contract is that the appropriate bid for the Portuguese superstar just does not emerge this summer.

Fabrizio Romano on Ronaldo situation

However, if you’re still perplexed by the Ronaldo scenario – and it’s hard to blame you, given how it all came out of nowhere – fret not, because Fabrizio Romano is on the case.

Romano, arguably the world’s most recognised football journalist, has earned a formidable reputation in recent years for practically nailing transfer news every single time.

Because of the breadth and depth of Romano’s contacts, he appears to be either breaking large transfer reports himself or acting as Twitter’s mouthpiece for the most important news.

As a result, you could bet that he was all over the Ronaldo situation this weekend like a cheap suit, validating the information and claims that were circulating with his own sources.

Romano gave his two cents on the matter by tweeting: “Cristiano Ronaldo told Man United he wants to leave this summer as he wants to see more ambition. Man Utd are still hopeful of keeping CR7, but aware of decision.

“Cristiano has no agreement with any other club. Mendes explored options for weeks and will continue.”

Okay, nothing out of the ordinary there, however some of you may be aware that Romano also has his own YouTube channel where he has the opportunity to break through certain scenarios in greater detail.

In response to the Ronaldo news, he uploaded a video titled “CRISTIANO RONALDO: WHY HE WANTS TO LEAVE, MAN UTD POSITION & MORE,”with the captivation of “WHAT’S REALLY HAPPENING” in the thumbnail.

The end result? Romano reveals personal details regarding the entire incident after speaking with sources close to the athlete, his family, and his agent Jorge Mendes.

The key facts from Romano’s Cristiano Ronaldo report

As always, riveting material. Take a bow, Fabrizio. Here are some of his key findings:

  • Ronaldo is dissatisfied with Manchester United’s lack of ambition in the transfer market.
  • Ronaldo admires Ten Hag and believes he is the perfect man to take Manchester United forward, but he expects more from the club.
  • Mendes is in talks with a number of clubs about Ronaldo and other players.
  • Mendes communicated with Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich’s director of football, but the last communication ended in a ‘no’ due to Ronaldo’s age.
  • In general, Romano has received no confirmation from Italian clubs regarding Ronaldo.
  • Mendes did, in fact, meet with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly to discuss Ronaldo.
  • As things stand, Ronaldo will not be joining Paris Saint-Germain.
  • Ronaldo is currently not under contract with another club.
  • Ronaldo is pleased with some of the United players on the team, but believes that six or seven key players are required.

Overall, it appears like we’re in for another hectic summer transfer season in the world of Ronaldo, less than a year after he switched from Juventus to United, with all the Manchester City drama in between.

As previously stated, it is impossible to predict whether or not the proper club will be able to sign Ronaldo, but the sporting world should brace itself if that is the case, because one of the best athletes of all time changing teams is never a small matter.
