Fabrizio Romano delivers a a telling update on Aurelien Tchouameni to Arsenal transfer

Fabrizio Romano has shared significant information regarding Arsenal’s interest in Real Madrid’s star Aurelien Tchouameni amidst Thomas Partey facing another injury setback.

Partey, who was one of Arsenal’s standout players last season, is once again facing doubts about his future due to a new injury setback.

Despite performing well last season, he has only managed to make five appearances this season due to injuries. Earlier in the campaign, the 30-year-old had to sit out due to a groin problem and has now encountered a thigh issue.

As per Football London, it’s anticipated that Partey will be sidelined for “a few weeks” at least due to his recent injury setback.

During the off-season, there were strong links connecting Partey with a potential move to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Juventus showed interest in the player, but no transfer occurred.

However, given Arsenal’s continual evolution under Edu and Mikel Arteta, they are constantly seeking to reinforce their squad. The central midfield is an area that might soon be addressed.

Despite Declan Rice making an immediate impact and Martin Odegaard’s pivotal role as the primary playmaker and captain, there seems to be room for the addition of a third high-caliber midfielder.

Speculations have suggested potential exits for either Partey or Jorginho. Both players have drawn attention from Juventus, who are looking to fill the void left by the suspensions of Paul Pogba (due to doping) and Nicolo Fagioli (due to betting) in January.

Aurelien Tchouameni has frequently been linked with Arsenal as a potential upgrade to the midfield duo. Recent reports from Football Transfers discussed Mikel Arteta’s desire to secure the signing of the tenacious Frenchman. Moreover, Real Madrid might need to free up funds if they aim to secure the signing of Kylian Mbappe, who will be a free agent at the end of the season but will command substantial expenses in terms of a sign-on fee and salary.

Tchouameni, aged 23, has been suggested as a player Real Madrid could potentially sell for a sum of at least £80 million. However, Fabrizio Romano, a reliable source in transfer news, threw doubt on the possibility of Tchouameni joining Arsenal in his latest Monday’s Daily Briefing.

Tchouameni to Arsenal?

Romano acknowledged the ongoing speculation but emphasized that, for the time being, it remains just that—speculation.

“Thomas Partey’s recent injury is a blow for Arsenal, and we are perhaps unsurprisingly seeing some stories come up as a result of this, with links to new midfielders who could perhaps replace Partey,” wrote Romano (via Caught Offside)

“Still, my understanding for now is that Arsenal have not decided anything yet about a new midfielder, and there’s nothing to the links with Aurelian Tchouameni – no talks, no proposals, or anything like that.”

Romano further underlined that Tchouameni’s bond with Real Madrid is robust, emphasizing mutual respect between the player and the club.

Therefore, for a transfer to materialize to the Emirates (Arsenal), it would require highly unusual circumstances or conditions beyond the ordinary to occur.

“It’s also important to note that Tchouameni loves Real Madrid and they love him, so at the moment there’s nothing at all,” continued the reporter.

“He’s a top player and I’m sure he could have a big future at Real Madrid, even if it makes sense that we’re often likely to see links between him and other big clubs in the Premier League.”
