Fabrizio Romano: 17-goal star on Chelsea’s radar but deal could depend on Lukaku, Dembele
Raheem Sterling to Chelsea deal could depend on Lukaku, Dembele according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano
According to transfer Romano, Raheem Sterling is a possible transfer target for Chelsea.
The Manchester City winger is a target for the Blues this summer. Thomas Tuchel admires the 27-year-old English winger.
Chelsea has not yet placed a proposal and is considering the prospects of a deal, which may be dependent on the departure of Romelu Lukaku and the arrival of Ousmane Dembele, who is being linked as a free agent.
Lukaku’s loan move to Inter Milan for a price is now being discussed as the Blues aim to offload the Belgian striker who has failed to impress and hasn’t had the best of seasons at Stamford Bridge.
If Sterling does relocate to west London, he will face competition from Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz.

No direct talks between Man City and Chelsea or bid yet. Depends on other deals like Lukaku, Ousmane and more. https://t.co/c5QmbERg9m
In the 2021/22 season, the Manchester City winger was not the first name on the squad sheet, with Pep Guardiola preferring alternative possibilities.
This season, the Englishman appeared in only 32 games in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and assisting on nine occasions.
Some argue that Chelsea already has players like Sterling in their team, such as Wener and Pulisic. They have speed and can dribble well, but their play in front of goal leaves something to be desired.
Goalscoring has been a major concern for the Blues in previous years, and while Sterling’s likely arrival will add skill in the attacking third, it would be remarkable if Tuchel acquires Sterling and relies on him to be our club’s goal-getter.
Werner and Hakim Ziyech are rumoured to be leaving Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic’s future appears to be in jeopardy, with Liverpool showing interest in the American as recently as two weeks ago, as he will be searching for guaranteed game time when the new season begins.
As a result, Sterling’s prospective arrival to Stamford Bridge may be influenced by the exits.
Dembele’s next club might potentially be a factor. The Frenchman has yet to sign a contract renewal with Barcelona, and there is speculation that he will rejoin Tuchel as a free agent.
It will be intriguing to watch if Chelsea manager hedges his bets on signing Sterling if the club does not undergo a big revamp this summer.
While his finishing can leave a lot to be desired at times, Sterling has demonstrated at City that he can make things happen in the final third on a regular basis.
