‘Extraordinary’ player tells Tottenham he will join them this month
SportMediaSet reports that Nicolo Zaniolo has informed Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur that he is willing to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.
According to the Italian news source, Tottenham wants to acquire Zaniolo from AS Roma in January.
And the 23-year-old has accepted the possibility of joining Tottenham and working under Antonio Conte, the former Inter Milan and Juventus manager.
According to the report, Tottenham and Roma are unable to reach an agreement regarding a transfer.
Spurs are in contact with the Italian club regarding a potential deal for Zaniolo, who AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho described as “extraordinary” on the club’s YouTube channel in August 2022.
According to SportMediaSet, Tottenham desires to sign the 23-year-old on loan with an option to make the deal permanent for €20 million (£17.56 million) if certain conditions are met, including qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season.
Roma is willing to do a loan-with-option-to-buy deal for Zaniolo, but they want easily attainable terms and are seeking transfer fees in the range of €35-40 million (£30.53-£35.12 million).
For Tottenham to complete a deal for Zaniolo, it appears they must increase their offer and modify the terms.
