‘Expected’ – Fabrizio Romano drops the first setback update for Ten Hag at Man Utd with appointment ‘imminent’
Despite the imminent appointment of Erik ten Hag, Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani is still slated to leave Old Trafford, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Uruguayan has made just six Premier League starts this season, missing a lot of action due to a variety of injuries.
Cavani picked up his latest injury when playing for Uruguay during the previous international break, and he missed the draws with Leicester and Everton owing to a calf ailment.
The 35-year-old is one of several United players whose contracts expire at the end of June, and he appears to be one of the first to leave in what could be a significant summer shake-up under Ten Hag.
On Thursday morning, Romano rushed to Twitter to provide an update on Cavani.
He stated that Ten Hag’s ‘imminent appointment’ will not change Cavani’s mind about his future, and that he is’still expected to leave on a free transfer’ in the coming months, naming La Liga as a possible destination for the forward.

Despite missing the most of the season due to various reasons, Cavani has proven his worth in England.
He scored 17 goals in his first season with United, and if he leaves, Ten Hag will be left with only Cristiano Ronaldo as the club’s senior center-forward.
Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford is also said to be uncertain, so encouraging Cavani to stay could have been on Ten Hag’s agenda due to his limited alternatives.
However, he does not appear to be staying in England, so finding a replacement center-forward could be a primary priority for the Red Devils and Ten Hag in the coming months.
