European giants ready to exile Liverpool transfer target for a year to ‘teach him a lesson’ as the situation gets messy

According to Spanish source SPORT (h/t the Express), Real Madrid and Liverpool are both interested in signing Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry. But things are about to get messy.

According to  Kicker from Germany (via the Express), the Bavarians are willing to be harsh with Gnabry, even leaving him out of their first team for a year to “teach him a lesson.”

His contract is set to end next year.

That means the former Arsenal player will be a free agent in the summer of 2023, with Real Madrid and Liverpool already interested.

This has irritated Bayern’s hierarchy, and Gnabry would be furious at such a stance.

Gnabry would like to be on the squad sheet as much as possible for the World Cup later this year.

The Reds are also said to have held conversations with his agents, with Gnabry represented by ROOF, who also represent Sadio Mane.

If Gnabry is a transfer target, Bayern’s alleged stance on their star forward could prove problematic for Liverpool.

The signing of Mane was a significant deal for the Bavarians, and they treated it as such.

Losing a player of Gnabry’s calibre so soon after bringing in the Senegalese superstar would take the shine off their big summer signing, especially with Robert Lewandowski also looking to leave the Allianz Arena.

Gnabry is in his prime at the age of 26. Any team would be fortunate to have a flexible, quality forward like him on their roster, particularly the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s attitude on the Bayern Munich star is unknown, although he has demonstrated a preference for signing forwards who can play in multiple places.

Takumi Minamino, Diogo Jota, and Sadio Mane are a few names that come to mind.

It would be wrong and unethical for Bayern to exile Gnabry from their team, but with so much money at stake in today’s game, the sport has begun to accept such techniques as a necessary evil in order to safeguard their best interests.
