European club “confident of finalising” deal for Tottenham player

Turkish news outlet Sabah has reported that Fenerbahce is making efforts to sign Tottenham’s winger, Lucas Moura, before the Turkish League’s extended transfer window deadline on March 5th.

Moura’s contract with Tottenham is set to expire at the end of the season, and the club has no plans to renew it.

Despite Moura’s expressed desire to end his career in Brazil, he believes that he can still contribute for a few more years in Europe, according to The Express.

According to the report, Fenerbahce is “confident” that they will be able to complete the deal, as there is no competition from other European clubs since their transfer window is already closed.

The Turkish club is said to be working quickly to finalize the deal.

Lucas Moura has been plagued by injuries this season, and he has not played in the Premier League so far. He has fallen behind other players, including Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Harry Kane, and Son, in the pecking order.

Despite his recent injury struggles, Lucas Moura was an important player for Tottenham under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, especially during their impressive run to the Champions League final in 2019, which they lost to Liverpool.

Since joining Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain for €28 million in 2017, he has made 213 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals and providing 27 assists for a total contribution of 65 goals.

The Turkish League’s extended transfer window is a response to a recent earthquake that caused devastation in the region, with the deadline now set for March 5th.
