Erling Haaland’s Man City release clause now invalid after Pep Guardiola maneuvering

It is widely acknowledged that Erling Haaland has been the best acquisition of the season, and Manchester City has received further positive news as Pep Guardiola has invalidated his release clause.

Haaland, who has already scored 28 goals in the Premier League according to BBC Sport, continues to perform exceptionally well.

Barcelona’s choice to reject Haaland in favor of Martin Braithwaite (as reported by Forbes) is considered one of the worst decisions in the club’s history.

According to  Goal, it was reported that there was a €200 million release clause for Haaland at Manchester City, indicating how mistaken Barcelona was in not signing him.

However, it seems that Haaland will not be leaving anytime soon since his contract does not expire until 2027.

According to Goal, as Pep Guardiola has recently extended his contract, the release clause for Haaland is no longer valid.

This means that Manchester City is not obliged to sell him unless they choose to do so, Haaland cannot force a transfer on his own, and the club could determine their asking price if they ever decide to sell him.

It is not surprising that Haaland has risen to the top of European football, and his recent five-goal haul in the Champions League against RB Leipzig should serve as a warning to top clubs across the continent.

At the age of only 22, it is a scary thought to contemplate how great he could become in the future.
