Erling Haaland appears to be the closest he has ever been to joining the Premier League.

Manchester City fans awoke this morning to dream transfer news, with reports claiming the Norwegian had agreed to join the league leaders this summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fans will be concerned about the arrival of yet another world-beater at the Premier League champions.

The Gunners have been working for many years to return to their title-challenging status, and despite their efforts, moves from rivals for players like Haaland only make the task that much more difficult.

However, the Gunners may still have a chance if the transfer dominoes fall into place.

Mikel Arteta’s previous work at Manchester City was praised by a number of Blues players who collaborated with him.

Arteta, in particular, was praised for his work with the forward players.

He was credited with helping Raheem Sterling improve, but Gabriel Jesus spoke in 2019 before the coach arrived at Arsenal.

“He’s helped a lot of players. When I want to do finishing after training, I tell him and he comes and helps me,” the Brazilian said.

“So, he is really fantastic for us. All the players know that — everyone knows that in the club. He is a fantastic guy and fantastic manager.”

According to the  Daily Mail, Haaland has agreed to terms with City, effectively ending Jesus’ chances of becoming the club’s leading striker.

The  Manchester Evening News has also reported ‘cautious optimism’ about signing the Norwegian sensation.

To maintain the false nine structure, Pep Guardiola has used Jesus in a wide position rather than the orthodox central position, with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden frequently used in the middle.

According to football.london, Arsenal intends to sign two forwards during the summer transfer window.

Jesus would be an ideal fit for the supporting striker role of the two contrasting players the club should be seeking.

Arsenal lacks aerial threat, so links to Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick are unsurprising.

Jesus’ link-up play, pressing energy, and versatility would be an excellent foil for the arrival of a player like the Czech Republic international.

With only one year left on Jesus’ contract and Argentine striker Julian Alvarez set to arrive in the summer, City would be wise to consider offers for the Brazilian.

Transfer expert Dean Jones told  Give Me Sport  that he believes a decision on Jesus and Sterling will be made sooner rather than later.

“From what I have heard from people around (Manchester) City, one issue that is interesting centres around Jesus and Sterling contract talks,” said Jones.

“I think we are heading towards a time when a decision needs to be made over what is happening next with both players. And as is almost always the case with (Manchester) City, they will not force anyone to stay.”

Jesus would bring a lot of the qualities and abilities that Mikel Arteta is looking for, and he might be available for a reasonable fee.

Arteta’s relationship with the player may also aid in any potential move.
