Erling Haaland makes Liverpool point after shock Bournemouth loss

Erling Haaland, the striker for Manchester City, has commented that Liverpool’s loss to Bournemouth demonstrates how challenging the Premier League can be.

Liverpool had been on a five-game unbeaten streak before being defeated by Bournemouth with a 1-0 scoreline, due to a goal from Philip Billing in the first half.

Despite having a big win against Manchester United just six days prior, Liverpool experienced a sense of déjà vu on the road, as this was their seventh away loss of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Nottingham Forest 3-1 at home, creating a six-point lead over Liverpool in the pursuit of the top four positions.

Meanwhile, City continued to apply pressure on the Premier League leaders, Arsenal, with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, secured by Haaland’s penalty in the 78th minute.

Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, Haaland has scored an impressive 28 goals in 26 league games, and he mentioned Liverpool after the match. Last season, Liverpool narrowly missed out on winning the title, and they were the main challengers to Pep Guardiola’s City team.

“In the end, everything that matters is three points. To win games to keep performing,” Haaland told Sky Sports before explaining how the Reds’ defeat to Cherries shows how much of a “fight” it is in the English top flight.

“It’s not easy, you saw Bournemouth beat Liverpool, every game is a fight. You saw today it was a fight. We win and are really happy. It’s a nice stadium, I enjoy it, it’s my job and I enjoy every single second.

“Everyone knows how important this win is for us, we have to keep going. I say every time but it’s the truth.”
