Erik ten Hag orders Man Utd to snap up sensational transfer move for Chelsea star
Erik ten Hag wants to bring N’Golo Kante from Chelsea to Manchester United this summer in order to kick-start his reign at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag, who has signed a three-year contract with the Premier League giants, is likely to supervise a revamp at the Theatre of Dreams, with some first-team players anticipated to depart and a number of transfers planned.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, Manchester United has generally flattered to deceive, with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all failing to repeat Fergie’s success.
The Red Devils have now turned to Ten Hag to help them win big trophies again, and they are expected to back the Dutch coach with a £100 million transfer budget this summer.
Ten Hag’s priority is to sign a new centre midfielder, as both Fred and Scott McTominay had difficult periods at the club and received criticism from fans and critics.
According to the Daily Mirror, Ten Hag believes French World Cup champion N’Golo Kante would be an ideal acquisition and is pressuring Manchester United to make a move for the Chelsea player.
Kante has been a revelation since joining Leicester City for £5.6 million in 2015, assisting the Foxes to a spectacular Premier League triumph and winning another at Stamford Bridge.
During his six-year tenure at Chelsea, the 31-year-old has also won the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, and FA Cup. He was a significant player of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
Despite his clout in west London, Kante has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer transfer window following an indifferent season.
Kante’s contract will expire next summer, and Chelsea’s new owners may be willing to trade the Frenchman in order to raise finances.
Manchester United have also been linked with midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni, Frenkie de Jong, and Declan Rice, the latter of whom West Ham value at roughly £150 million.
Ten Hag arrives at Old Trafford after leading Ajax to their third Eredivisie title this season.
